Red Light Therapy (RLT)

Red Light Therapy

Red Light Therapy (RLT) helps cells self-repair by using low wave-length red light. This type of low-level laser therapy is used for many applications. Red light activates the mitochondria, the powerhouse of the cells, which allows the cells to function more efficiently. This aids in healing and growth. The noted benefits are reduced inflammation and pain, improvements in skin including wrinkle reduction and appearance, and increased hair growth. The other confirmed benefits are acne treatment, healing of wounds, muscle and joint pain recovery, improved circulation, mood enhancement, as well as treatment of

Seasonal Affective Disorder. There are potential benefits for depression, anxiety, and other mental conditions. A study from 2015 also suggests that RLT can assist in fat metabolism, and possibly promote weight loss (Elizabeth, 2024). Our RLT bed uses a 630 nm wavelength of red light, which is considered to be the most effective wavelength for RLT. It allows for deeper light penetration.

There are no known side effects according to dermatologists, and many people reported positive changes after just a few treatments. The recommended usage is three times a week for 10-15 weeks, and then once per week for maintenance. However, if you have a photosensitive condition, like lupus, or if you are taking photosensitive medicine, you should avoid RLT. If you are pregnant, please consult your physician, just to be safe.
